Sunday Worship at Home with Bell Church – March 29, 2020

We are grateful to the members of our sister congregation, Grace Church, for the use of their sanctuary to bring this week’s Sunday Worship Service into our living rooms for both congregations.

Why the telegram? See the history of “It is Well”:https://www.umcdiscipleship.org/resources/history-of-hymns-it-is-well-with-my-soul

  1. This account gives a bit more detail on what Anna experienced prior to writing that telegram. http://bellchurch.org/2020/03/29/hymn-stories-it-is-well/

    Rev. Devoid,
I am a retired member of our WNC Conference living in Durham. My wife’s grandfather, Y D Poole, served Bell Church in the 1920s. Cleaning out some memorabilia, we came across a brief handwritten narrative from the hand of Mrs. Mattie Poole, wife to YD. It has some fascinating ‘inside’ detail on how the building came to be and who some of the key leadership were, how the contractor was procured, etc. It occurred to me to write since the church seems to be keen on its history. If you are not interested I will see if the conference archivist has any interest in it.
Thank you, and may God richly bless your ministry at Bell.

    1. Thank you Maurice.
